This is Northern Quarter, Huddersfield

We host live music, soundsystem, open mics, poetry events, lectures, art installations and cinema with an emphasis on grassroots art, the local scene and culture from near and far.

Inside we sell craft beer, real ale, vegan food, stone baked pizza, specialty teas and fresh coffee.

A Strong Musical Heritage

Northern Quarter is the site of the old ‘Builders Club’, which is Huddersfield’s famous historic independent music venue. Bands such as Thin Lizzy, Wishbone Ash, Marc Bolan, Caravan, The Rats, and The Ckreed Blues Band have played under this roof.

After years of the site being a shop front and more recently a craft beer house, the unique looking building (crammed in the gap of a listed building) is once again a music venue. Again, the venue focuses on up-and-coming artists from near and far, supporting all genres.

In the first year of it’s existence NQ has managed to pull such names as Keyon Harrold, Laura Jurd, Chris Corsano, Mike Cooper and Yazz Ahmed putting it alongside some of the big city venues such as Band on the Wall, Brudenell Social Club.

Incredible Sound

The most impressive feature of the venue, especially to music fans, is it’s custom built PA system which has been crafted by the hands of one of the UKs most prominent sound system builders, Paul Huxtable of Axis Sound, who has lead the way in high quality, hand built valve amplification of sound system for the last 15 years.

A Truly Unique Venue

Northern Quarter is a space ideal for people interested in culture and high quality art at a grassroots level and is proud to maintain an inclusive, comfortable and loving environment, hosting an annual International Women’s Day event, raising money and awareness for the local Women’s Centre and other charitable events such as ‘Love Music, Hate Racism’ & ‘We Shall Overcome’.
